Oh my chicken- sculpting with clay June 14, 2025

$65.00

Registration Deadline: June 12, 2025

*June 14th  1-4 p.m.

If you love chickens and want to get a little messy, then this class is just for you! Your instructor will provide a wheel-thrown base for you to get started with and you will be guided in building your very own clay chicken. These can be as realistic as you like or incredibly whimsical! The focus of this class is on the sculpture and no glazing will occur during this class. Upon completion, you will select a glaze that your instructor will apply for you once the chicken is dry and then bisque fired. After glazing, the chicken is fired a second time to complete the piece. Final glazed and fired projects are ready within three weeks.

*No experience is necessary to participate. Ages 16 and up.

*We will only be making chickens in this session. No independent projects please.

*No refunds after June 9th.

* Care and caution is taken with every artwork, however clay projects can always develop cracks or issues that appear during the drying process or firing. No refunds are given to participants should their work develop any of these issues or suffer loss in the kiln.

Registration Closed

Lauren Martin

I have been a potter for over twenty years and obsessed with clay since I was a young child. My professional career has been spent as a K-12 art teacher in Tennessee and Ohio. I've been busy hosting private and group pottery classes in recent years and I love teaching others how to work with clay.

My own pottery is often created on the pottery wheel and then altered or carved. Most of my work is functional and expresses my love of nature. Often times I use colors that complement the natural world or press botanicals into the clay. My favorite pieces are thrown on the wheel and then adorned with sculpted embellishments.

I'm fortunate to be a member of the MAGallery and you can find a large collection of my pottery in this lovely Madison, GA gallery.
