As an artist and nature lover, Lauren's artistic drive is deeply rooted in clay. Clay has captivated her imagination since she was a young child making mud pies that dried under the hot Tennessee sun. Clay provides the opportunity to turn raw earth into something that can be functional or purely aesthetic. Clay is her canvas. Often, Lauren will throw vessels on the pottery wheel and then alter the forms with found textures or add small sculptural additions. She feels there is no better inspiration than Mother Nature, and it is her ultimate wish for her love of cooking, gardening and traveling to transpire within her pottery. She is currently working and creating artwork in her tiny but mighty studio in Madison, Georgia and teaching classes throughout central Georgia. She believes that "life with muddy hands is a good life."
