Greg Bleakley

Greg lives in Milledgeville with his wife of 42 years and is retired. His two grown kids live in Athens and Vermont, giving him four grandchildren. He graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in 1975.

Greg has been involved in woodworking since 2008, creating bowls, vases, pens and charcuterie boards from mostly exotic woods, as well as resin. Preferring imported woods from Africa, Asia and South and Central America, Greg also creates some pieces from domestic woods, such as Walnut and Cedar. While having no formal background in art, Greg has learned he enjoys the process of turning beautiful wood into something that is pleasing to the eye, as well as being functional, such as bowls or serving boards. While most of his wood is obtained online, he occasionally finds pieces locally. Living on Lake Sinclair, Greg often finds pieces of driftwood that can be used for various art pieces. A beautiful piece of wood with contrasting colors and random grain patterns inspires him to create art from the piece. Recently Greg has added two-part epoxy resin to his work. He likes to incorporate the material in wood pieces, creating colors and patterns that complement the wood.
