Growing up Italian American in Long Island, NY, I developed an appreciation for Italian style cuisine at an early age. Years later, I started trying to cook the type of food my mother, grandmother, and aunts made for everyday and specialties they made for holidays. As I explored Italian food, I realized that there was more to Italian food than the typical Southern Italian style dishes I was acquainted with. I then began to replicate these at home. When friends and neighbors began to sample these dishes, I was asked to compile some of the recipes which led to requests for demonstrations on how to make them. As I wrote the recipes, I began to add the background of the dishes, origins and my experiences. After we returned from a trip to Italy, I compiled the recipes into the little cookbook that you see here. Enjoy!
