Land and Sea Georgia is a visual exploration of the state’s remarkable ecological diversity. Drawing inspiration from Georgia’s land and coastal environments, Mann’s work references flora and fauna ranging from pokeweed and pine trees to sea algae, oysters, sea turtles, and microscopic marine life. The exhibition celebrates the interconnectedness of these environments and reflects a deep respect for the natural world.

The exhibition includes a range of work, from wall-mounted pieces to wearable jewelry. Using metals, minerals, and gemstones, Mann transforms organic forms into finely crafted contemporary metalwork that bridges art, science, and nature.

Barbara Mann has more than 50 years of experience as a metal and jewelry artist and educator. She holds both a BFA and MFA from the University of Georgia, where she taught for many years in the Lamar Dodd School of Art and through the Continuing Education Program. Mann has also taught internationally in Italy and Costa Rica and has exhibited widely, with work held in museum collections and featured in books and art publications.

Recently, Mann completed a major body of work supported by a Georgia Sea Grant and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), focused on the marine carbon cycle. Many of these works are included in Land and Sea Georgia.
